Warm Smiles, Welcoming Shores

My grandmother's favorite place to be? Walking in the surf with bare feet, hand in hand with my grandfather, along the seashell-studded, warm, welcoming Pawley's Island shore.

She left her earthly life yesterday after a full and beautiful life, and I cannot get the image out of my mind today of those two soul mates strolling, with clasped hands, savoring the moments.  They always held those moments in the palms of their hands as gifts to be treasured.

Never taking a second for granted, I learned incredible lessons from her.  Her smile was radiant, her hand squeezes were firm and trusting, and her laughs were never-ending.  In fact, I cannot remember a single moment in my life around her where my grandmother was not smiling or laughing.

Thank you for the smiles, the laughs, the lessons, the warmth, and the love.  You taught everyone in your family through example how to take everything in, second by second, and to truly enjoy it all. . . because what is a life without laughter and love and moments seized?

We will always be reminded of your precious laugh and sweet smile every second that we think of you.
