At 41 weeks pregnant, she alerted me she was ready during a lunch at Brio with Mama Suz, over a meal of warm bread and butter, risotto with pancetta and asparagus, and roasted chicken. Contractions started mid-way through the meal, and before we knew it, I was checked in at the hospital. In between the deep breathing and the pain, I was beaming that my baby's birthday was just hours away, and that we could finally meet each other.
With a supportive team of family cheerleaders in the waiting room, she, hubby, and I labored through the afternoon and evening of the 13th. Our daughter, Samantha Aubrey, made her entrance on her own special day, just after midnight on August 14, 2013, at 12:02 a.m. She weighed a healthy and happy 8 pounds, 1 ounce, and she measured in at 20 inches long.
Welcome to the world, sweet Samantha. Our love for you is (and will always be) immeasurable and out of our control as it grows and grows by the day and overwhelms us with its humble power. We are so blessed to be your parents, help you grow, learn from you, laugh with you, and love you . . . over and over and over again.
Samantha Aubrey
