Heavenly Ham & Sweet Onion Quiche
Source: my own
Ingredients:
1 frozen store-bought pie crust (thaw for a bit at room temp.)
3 eggs
1 cup 1% or 2% milk
1 overflowing cup of shredded sharp cheddar
1 large shallot, peeled and roughly chopped
3-4 slices of smoked deli ham, chopped into small pieces
1/2 tsp. mustard powder
light drizzle of extra virgin olive oil
S & P
The Process:
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and mustard powder. Whisk in the cheese. Sprinkle in some salt and freshly cracked pepper. (Go lightly with the salt as it can dry out the eggs a bit).
Pour the egg mixture into the pie crust. Decorate the pie with diced ham and chopped shallots. The ham and onion will slowly settle within the blanket of deliciousness. Complete the magic with a very light and delicate drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.
Bake your Heavenly Ham & Sweet Onion Quiche in the oven for about 50-60 minutes until a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean and the top is a gorgeous golden brown.
The options are so endless for this quiche. Once you know the standard eggs to milk ratio, you can add whatever your favorite ingredients are to make it your very own creation. Ideas - Spinach and Sun-Dried Tomatoes with Goat Cheese, Italian Sausage with Roasted Red Peppers and Gouda, Smoky Bacon with Sharp White Cheddar and Sliced Baby Potatoes. . . oh, the options!
Bon Appetit & Happy Weekend!!
